实战比看书有用多了，hands on experience和人交流有很多知识不在书本上写的，emprical之类的。而且没有人说，网上看到的东西也很难相信。
MSSF society is a great place to join this foraging activity. 300 $ 的价格非常划算：三四顿饭吃的很好，两晚的住宿虽然简陋但是体验很特别，不用担心social pressure，虽然有catherine交流好很多，但和其他人也有的聊，tim, david, etc.
Elsa is superstar in California community 听说她夏天也host summer camp, for mushroom.
知道蘑菇的大类比较重要, lactirus, Cortinarius (丝膜菌) , Russula, Stereum, Boletes(suilus), Agaricus.
能吃的mushroom不代表好吃，popular mushroom要素：好吃，容易分辨，数量众多。

Driving on Friday. Completely dark in the evening. Figured out check-in with volunteer, Stephanie, I helped Catherine moved her stuff to her cabin and then drive by myself to my own cabin. Below is a picture.
用头灯找到了自己的cabin 45，进去和想的一样，木屋里只有两张床，没有电，我拿出睡袋，盖上毯子，倒头就睡。第二天走出木屋才看清楚这redwood里的环境：隔着一段有一处小木屋，简陋却坚固，mendocino county 的redwood长得细长茂密，湿润的环境树皮上长着青色的地衣。朦胧的雾霭之中，听不到喧闹，偶尔有人走过，脚下踩着，发出咯吱咯吱的声音。
Joined the lecture on Friday evening, about bioluminensce mushroom. most interesting one is Filoboletus manipularis, Hawaii, Kowai island.

hedgehog mushroom, could be huge, david. catherine mentioned they are mycohrizial with huckleberry.

pig ear, edible, purple color, someone in our group and catherine got some, but i didn't find any. not sure how good it is.

regarding king bolete, they are found in pine forest, such as bishop pines. David.
dylers poplypore, polypore is such kind like conk, on the dead tree, there's another kind they found called gilled polypore.
Amanita grisstem (common name), when found it's growing upward, sensitive to gravity to grow upward for better spore distribution
Remembered Chris also mentioned other mushroom does the same but this one is the quickest to show the feature in short amount of time.
Lactarius, mily one, candy cap is also one of them but spilled with diluted milk, others are like whole mily, heavier texture.

Catherine and I also went for our own mushroom hunting on Sunday on the way back. Pascal gave the direction to us. It's a very small place near mendocino town, around some road of private property. We didn't have a good harvest but the adventure of exploring completely new road with mushroom goal, again ignited me! These are some amanita msucaria photos.
We also found some boletes. With slime and brown cap. For boletes, if they blush (changing color), especially turning blue/red, it's not harmful, but whether it's tasty is another question. In the end with ID book, I think it's suillus brevipes. edible but i didn't try.
